Overview

Ciliary-associated calcium-binding coiled-coil protein 1 (CABCOCO1) is a protein characterized by the presence of a coiled-coil domain and a CLAMP motif, enabling calcium ion binding[1][2][3]. It localizes to the centrosome and cytoplasm during spermatogenesis and relocates to the sperm flagellum, where it may regulate flagellar movement and function. CABCOCO1 is implicated in processes related to sperm motility and flagellum assembly in mammals, with known association to certain disorders of ciliary function, such as cone-rod dystrophy 10 and primary ciliary dyskinesia[1][3][4][7][8]. There is no evidence supporting its role as a therapeutic target, nor are there any known drug interactions, mechanisms of action, or safety concerns specific to CABCOCO1.
