The ciliary neurotrophic factor receptor (CNTFR) is a type I cytokine receptor that forms a complex with gp130 and LIFRβ upon binding to ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF). This complex activates intracellular signaling cascades, promoting neuronal survival, differentiation, and regulating apoptosis. The receptor is attached to the cell membrane via a glycophosphatidylinositol (GPI) linkage.
CNTF binds to CNTFRα, recruiting gp130 and LIFRβ to form a signaling complex, triggering intracellular pathways.
