CIR1 pseudogene 1 (CIR1P1) is a pseudogene in humans associated with the parental CIR1 gene, which encodes "corepressor interacting with RBPJ 1," a protein involved in transcriptional regulation and repression via the Notch signaling pathway[11][5]. Unlike its protein-coding counterpart, CIR1P1 does not produce a functional protein. Pseudogenes such as CIR1P1 may sometimes have regulatory or evolutionary functions, including potential competition for microRNA binding or ceRNA (competing endogenous RNA) effects, but there is no experimental evidence for CIR1P1 having a specific biological function, disease link, or utility as a drug target at this time[3][7][11].
