Target intelligence / Profile preview
Circulation of blood describes the overall physiological process by which the heart pumps blood through a network of blood vessels, delivering oxygen, nutrients, and hormones to tissues while removing carbon dioxide and metabolic waste. It encompasses pulmonary circulation (blood between heart and lungs for oxygenation) and systemic circulation (all other tissues). Although essential for life and the target of numerous medical interventions, "circulation of blood" is not a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or molecule and thus is not a therapeutic target in the strict molecular sense.
