Target intelligence / Profile preview
Citrullinated Histone H2A is a post-translationally modified form of the core histone protein H2A, in which specific arginine residues have been converted to citrulline by peptidylarginine deiminases (PADs). This modification alters the charge and function of the histone, impacting chromatin structure and cellular processes. It plays a role in chromatin dynamics, gene expression regulation, immune defense mechanisms such as NETosis, and inflammatory pathologies due to its altered cytotoxic profile compared to unmodified extracellular core histones.
