Target intelligence / Profile preview
Claudin 18 (CLDN18) is a member of the claudin family, essential for tight junction formation in epithelial cells. It exists as two main isoforms: CLDN18.1 (lung-specific) and CLDN18.2 (stomach-specific, overexpressed in gastric tumors). CLDN18 plays a role in regulating paracellular transport, maintaining alveolar fluid homeostasis, and mediating cellular adhesion. CLDN18.2 is a therapeutic target in gastric cancer, with drugs like Zolbetuximab targeting this isoform.
