Target intelligence / Profile preview
Claudin-6 (CLDN6) is a transmembrane protein that is an essential component of tight junctions, regulating paracellular permeability and maintaining cell polarity. It is primarily expressed during embryonic development and exhibits limited expression in most adult tissues under normal physiological conditions. Aberrant CLDN6 activation is observed in certain cancers, making it an attractive target for cancer therapy. Therapeutically targeting CLDN6 requires high specificity to avoid off-target effects due to sequence similarity with other claudins.
