CLDN10 antisense RNA 1 (CLDN10-AS1) is a long non-coding RNA gene found on chromosome 13. It functions primarily as an antisense transcript opposite the Claudin 10 (CLDN10) protein-coding gene. CLDN10-AS1 is implicated in regulatory processes such as cell migration, modulation of receptor and protein kinase activities, and tight junction maintenance. Recent studies highlight its role in pathological mechanisms such as extracellular vesicle-mediated injury in vascular endothelial cells, particularly under conditions of oxidative stress. While associated with some disease states and cellular pathways, CLDN10-AS1 is not a direct therapeutic target, nor are there existing drugs known to interact with it. Its role as a biomarker or its safety profile have not been established, but ongoing research suggests it may contribute to mechanisms linked to vascular injury and possibly other disease contexts.
