Overview

Cleavage and polyadenylation specific factor 1 pseudogene 2 (CPSF1P2) is a human pseudogene, sharing sequence homology with the protein-coding CPSF1 gene but lacking the ability to encode functional CPSF1 protein. Unlike CPSF1, which is involved in pre-mRNA processing and is implicated in developmental and disease processes, CPSF1P2 is not known to have established biological function or disease relevance. Pseudogenes are generally classified as genetic loci without protein product, although some may produce non-coding RNAs with regulatory effects; for CPSF1P2, such roles are not known.

Mechanism of action

None applicable for CPSF1P2 as a pseudogene.

03

Biological functions

Pseudogenes typically do not encode functional proteins; CPSF1P2 is presumed to lack biological function except possibly regulatory RNA roles, which remain largely uncharacterized.
04

Disease associations

Other. Pseudogenes as a class may play regulatory roles in gene expression, but specific roles for CPSF1P2 in disease are not established. The actual coding gene CPSF1 has links to cancer and myopia, but these roles are not ascribed to its pseudogene.
05

Safety considerations

None reported, as CPSF1P2 is non-functional at the protein level.
06

Interacting drugs

None. No drugs are known to interact specifically with CPSF1P2.
07

Biomarkers

None established for CPSF1P2. Diagnostic assays may occasionally screen pseudogene expression for research or exploratory biomarker purposes, but not clinically for this locus.
