Cleavage stimulation factor 64 kDa subunit tau variant (CSTF2T) is a protein subunit of the cleavage stimulation factor (CSTF) complex, which is essential for the 3'-end processing and polyadenylation of pre-mRNA in eukaryotic cells[4][5][6][8]. The tau variant, encoded by the CSTF2T gene, is predominantly expressed in germ cells and is thought to have a specific role in AAUAAA-independent mRNA polyadenylation in these cells[6][9]. CSTF2T enables RNA binding, directly interacting with pre-mRNA substrates to ensure proper processing, stability, and export of mature mRNAs. Mutations or dysregulation of CSTF2T have been associated with male infertility, and altered CSTF complex function may contribute to other clinical conditions, but CSTF2T is not currently a direct therapeutic target nor known to interact with any drugs[6][9].
