Clostridia Strains (Gut Microbiota)

Molecular classification
Bacteria, Microbiota, Firmicutes
01

Overview

Gut-associated Clostridia strains are a diverse group of bacteria encompassing both protective commensals and opportunistic pathogens. Commensal Clostridia contribute to intestinal health by producing SCFAs, providing colonization resistance, and modulating the immune system. Disruption of these populations can lead to dysbiosis and increased risk for various diseases, including CDI, IBD, and autoimmune disorders. Restoration strategies include FMT and administration of selected beneficial clostridial consortia.
