Clostridium difficile spore surface proteins are a collection of proteins located on the outer layers of C. difficile spores, including the spore coat and exosporium. These proteins confer resistance to environmental stressors, mediate host interaction, and contribute to pathogenesis. Key proteins include CotA, CotB, CotCB, CotD, CotE, SipL (coat), BclA1, BclA2, BclA3, CdeC, CdeM, SlpA (exosporium). They are attractive targets for anti-infective strategies.
