Overview
Clostridioides difficile toxin A (TcdA) is a large exotoxin produced by the bacterium *Clostridioides difficile*. It is a major virulence factor contributing to the pathogenesis of C. difficile infection. TcdA functions as an enterotoxin and cytotoxin, disrupting intestinal epithelial barrier function by inactivating Rho GTPases through glucosylation. This leads to inflammation, cell damage, and the characteristic symptoms of CDI, including pseudomembranous colitis.
