Target intelligence / Profile preview

Clostridium difficile Toxin B Glucosyl-Transferase Domain (GTD (TcdB))

Target
GTD (TcdB)
Molecular classification
Enzyme, Glucosyltransferase
01

Overview

The glucosyl-transferase domain (GTD) is the catalytic N-terminal domain of Clostridium difficile toxin B (TcdB). It is responsible for transferring glucose moieties to Rho-family GTPases, leading to their inactivation and disruption of the actin cytoskeleton. This activity is a major virulence factor in Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI), causing intestinal epithelial damage and inflammation.
