CLTA pseudogene 1 (CLTAP1) is a genomic sequence related to the gene encoding clathrin light chain A, but it is a pseudogene—meaning it does not produce a functional protein due to accumulated disabling mutations. While some pseudogenes are transcribed into RNA and can modulate the activity of regulatory pathways, there is no evidence published on CLTA pseudogene 1 being functionally relevant as a biomarker, therapeutic target, or regulator in human disease. In general, pseudogenes are not considered therapeutic targets, and "CLTA pseudogene 1" should not be mistaken for the protein-coding clathrin light chain A gene (CLTA), which has established roles in endocytosis and cellular trafficking.
