Cluster of Differentiation 23 (CD23)

Target
CD23
Molecular classification
Cell surface receptor, C-type lectin
01

Overview

CD23, also known as FcεRII or CLEC4J, is a multifunctional cell surface receptor with key roles in immunoregulation, particularly in the context of IgE-mediated immune responses and allergy. It is a type II transmembrane glycoprotein and a member of the C-type lectin family. CD23 exists in two main isoforms, CD23a and CD23b, with differing expression patterns. It binds IgE with low affinity and also interacts with CD21, MHC II molecules, and certain integrins. CD23 plays a central role in regulating serum IgE levels and has been investigated as a therapeutic target for allergy and asthma interventions.
