Overview

CD5 is a 67-kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein and a member of the scavenger receptor cysteine-rich (SRCR) superfamily. It is primarily expressed on T lymphocytes and a subset of B lymphocytes, acting as an immunomodulatory receptor that negatively regulates antigen-specific receptor signaling. It is used as a diagnostic marker in hematolymphoid tissues and is being investigated as a therapeutic target for CAR-T/CAR-NK therapy in cancers expressing high levels of CD5.
