Overview
CD70 is a type II transmembrane protein belonging to the TNF ligand family. It is transiently expressed on activated T cells, B cells, dendritic cells, and NK cells. CD70 is the ligand for CD27, and their interaction provides costimulatory signals for T-cell and B-cell activation, proliferation, and survival. CD70 is overexpressed in several hematologic malignancies and some solid tumors, promoting cell proliferation and survival and inhibiting apoptosis. Anti-CD70 therapies are being explored as cancer treatments. CD70 also plays a role in transplant immunology and graft-versus-host disease.

Mechanism of action
Anti-CD70 antibodies inhibit CD70 and prevent its interaction with CD27, thus suppressing T-cell and B-cell activation, proliferation, and survival.
