Overview

Clustered mitochondria homolog pseudogene 1 (CLUHP1), also known as KIAA0664L1 or KIAA0664-like 1, is annotated as a pseudogene in the human genome. It has limited or no protein-coding function attributed in current biomedical literature and is not known to encode a functional protein or have any established biological role, molecular function, or involvement in disease. There are no known drugs, mechanisms of action, or biomarker applications related to this pseudogene. Its designation as a pseudogene indicates it may be a non-functional segment corresponding to a gene that lost its protein-coding ability. Importantly, CLUHP1 should not be conflated with Clusterin (CLU), an extensively studied chaperone protein involved in apoptosis and various diseases, as common confusion occurs due to similar acronyms. There is currently no evidence that CLUHP1 acts as a therapeutic target, molecule, or receptor. Its main relevance is as an annotated non-coding genomic region, not as a druggable molecule or functional receptor. Any biological or disease associations (including those relating to clusterin/CLU) should not be ascribed to CLUHP1.
