CMT1A duplicated region transcript 4 protein (CDRT4) is a protein coding gene product in humans, with the gene located on chromosome 17, reverse strand (GRCh38: 15,436,015-15,475,728)[1][5][7]. CDRT4 has three transcript variants, of which one encodes a protein of 152 amino acids, though no biological function has been attributed to the protein so far. Its expression is detectable in fetal tissues but is very low or undetectable in adults[3]. There is no evidence that CDRT4 plays a role as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other classical therapeutic target, nor is it recognized as a regulatory element for surrounding disease-associated genes such as PMP22. Diseases referenced in genomic association databases include podoconiosis and elephantiasis, but no mechanistic link or drug targeting is described[5]. In summary, the biological significance and functional role of CDRT4 remain uncharacterized, and it is not considered a validated or plausible therapeutic target in current biomedical literature[3][5][7].
