Overview

CNTN4 antisense RNA 2 (CNTN4-AS2) is a long non-coding RNA gene located antisense to the CNTN4 gene on chromosome 3. It is transcribed but not translated into protein. Its specific biological functions are currently not characterized, though similar lncRNAs are often involved in the regulation of gene expression. CNTN4-AS2 has been shown to have expression patterns and copy number variation in a range of tissues and cell lines, but there is no direct evidence to support CNTN4-AS2 as a therapeutic target, nor has it been associated definitively with any specific diseases or drug interactions. CNTN4-AS2 should not be confused with CNTN4 (Contactin-4), which is a cell adhesion molecule involved in neural development and is being studied for its roles in neurodevelopmental disorders and cancer immune evasion. There are no reports of CNTN4-AS2 functioning as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or any other classical therapeutic target class. No interacting drugs, mechanisms of action, or biomarkers directly linked to CNTN4-AS2 were found in current sources. In summary, CNTN4 antisense RNA 2 (CNTN4-AS2) is a non-coding RNA gene with limited functional or therapeutic characterization to date.
