CNTNAP3 pseudogene 5 (CNTNAP3P5) is a genomic region classified as a pseudogene of the contactin associated protein family member 3 (CNTNAP3). Pseudogenes are DNA sequences similar to known genes but typically lack protein-coding potential or regulated biological function. Although some pseudogenes may be transcribed or, in rare cases, translated into peptides[5], the vast majority do not contribute directly to cellular function or serve as therapeutic targets. CNTNAP3P5 itself lacks evidence for involvement in disease, cellular processes, or drug interactions, and is not recognized as a biomarker or a safety concern in clinical settings. The gene most closely related, CNTNAP3, is associated with neuronal cell recognition and autism spectrum disorders, but these properties do not apply to CNTNAP3P5[1][2][3].
