Coagulation

Coagulation, also known as blood clotting, is a complex physiological process by which blood changes from a liquid to a gel, forming a blood clot. This process is essential for hemostasis—the cessation of bleeding following vascular injury—and involves the activation, adhesion, and aggregation of platelets along with the deposition and maturation of fibrin. Coagulation prevents excessive bleeding when vessels are damaged but can also lead to pathological conditions if dysregulated.
