Coagulation factor replenishment via plasma factors refers to the therapeutic administration of blood plasma or plasma-derived protein products to restore deficient or dysfunctional coagulation (clotting) factors in the blood. Plasma contains multiple clotting proteins—including fibrinogen, prothrombin, and Factors V, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, and XIII—that are essential for normal hemostasis. Such replenishment is used to treat bleeding disorders (like hemophilia and von Willebrand disease), acute coagulopathy from liver failure or massive transfusion, or to reverse anticoagulation. While highly effective, plasma therapy carries risks including transfusion reactions, infection transmission, and potential for inappropriate clot formation.
