Coagulation Factor VII (None)

Coagulation Factor VII (also known as proconvertin) is a vitamin K-dependent glycoprotein produced by the liver. It is a serine protease that plays a critical role in initiating the extrinsic pathway of blood coagulation. Activated by tissue factor exposure at sites of vascular injury, the FVIIa-TF complex activates Factor X to Xa and Factor IX to IXa, leading to thrombin generation, fibrin formation, and platelet activation. Recombinant activated factor VII (rFVIIa) has been developed for therapeutic use—especially for patients with hemophilia who develop inhibitors against other clotting factors—and for treating congenital or acquired FVII deficiency.
