Overview
Coagulation factor VIIa (FVIIa) is a serine protease enzyme crucial for initiating the blood coagulation cascade. It activates factors IX and X, leading to thrombin generation and fibrin clot formation. Recombinant FVIIa is used therapeutically to treat bleeding episodes in hemophilia and other coagulation disorders.

Mechanism of action
Binds to tissue factor (TF) to activate factors IX and X, leading to thrombin generation and fibrin clot formation. High concentrations can activate FX even without TF by binding to activated platelet surfaces.
