Coagulation factor Xa (Rabbit) (FXa)

Rabbit factor Xa (FXa) is the activated form of coagulation factor X, a vitamin K-dependent serine protease that plays a central role in the blood coagulation cascade (UniProt P15290). It is the primary component of the prothrombinase complex, where it catalyzes the conversion of prothrombin into thrombin, a critical step leading to fibrin clot formation (PubMed: 11514345). In pharmaceutical research, rabbit FXa is frequently utilized in biochemical assays and preclinical models to evaluate the potency and selectivity of novel anticoagulants (PubMed: 21881209). Drugs targeting FXa, such as direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) like rivaroxaban and apixaban, bind directly to the enzyme's active site to inhibit its catalytic activity (DrugBank DB00691).
