Overview
Factor XIIIa is the active form of coagulation factor XIII, a transglutaminase enzyme crucial for the final stages of blood clotting. It catalyzes the formation of covalent cross-links between fibrin molecules, stabilizing blood clots and protecting them from premature breakdown. It plays roles in wound healing, tissue repair, angiogenesis, and other intracellular processes. Deficiency leads to severe bleeding diathesis.
