N/A

Serine proteases, Zymogens
01

Overview

Coagulation pathway proteins, also known as clotting factors, are a group of serine proteases and zymogens essential for blood coagulation. They interact in a cascade to form blood clots at sites of vascular injury, preventing excessive bleeding. Deficiencies or dysfunctions can lead to bleeding disorders or pathological thrombosis. The coagulation cascade is divided into the intrinsic, extrinsic, and common pathways. Regulation involves the protein C system, antithrombin, and tissue factor pathway inhibitor (TFPI).
