Cofilin 1 pseudogene 1 (CFL1P1) is classified as a pseudogene in the human genome and does not code for a functional protein. Pseudogenes arise from gene duplication or retrotransposition events and typically do not have biological activity in terms of encoding proteins or functioning as receptors, enzymes, or drug targets. CFL1P1 shares sequence similarity with the protein-coding gene cofilin 1 (CFL1), but unlike CFL1, it lacks the ability to produce the actin-binding protein that regulates cytoskeletal dynamics. As a result, CFL1P1 is not considered a therapeutic or biological target and has no established role in cell biology, disease, or therapy. Note: If your research or database requires information on the actin-binding, cytoskeleton-regulating protein, you should refer to "cofilin 1" (CFL1), not the pseudogene CFL1P1.
