Target intelligence / Profile preview
Cofilin 1 pseudogene 8 (CFL1P8) is a human pseudogene related to the cofilin 1 (non-muscle) gene, also known as CFL1. Unlike functional protein-coding genes, pseudogenes like CFL1P8 do not produce functional proteins. The canonical cofilin 1 protein (encoded by CFL1, not CFL1P8) is an actin-binding protein important for cytoskeleton remodeling and cell motility, but CFL1P8 itself does not encode a protein product[2]. Its nucleotide sequence may be similar to its functional paralog, but there is no evidence for a translated, functional protein or therapeutic relevance. No disease associations, drugs, or biomarker roles have been described for CFL1P8[2].
