Coiled-coil domain-containing 183 antisense RNA 1 (CCDC183-AS1) is a long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) located primarily in the cytoplasm, identified as playing an oncogenic role in cancers such as breast and bladder cancer[1][2][3][5]. CCDC183-AS1 functions as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA), sponging specific microRNAs (notably miR-3918 and miR-4731-5p), resulting in upregulation of oncogenes including fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 (FGFR1) and transcription factor 7 like 2 (TCF7L2)[1][2][3]. Its expression is transcriptionally regulated by the transcription factor MITF[2]. Elevated CCDC183-AS1 is associated with enhanced proliferation, migration, and invasion of cancer cells and correlates with poor clinical outcomes, suggesting a potential utility as a biomarker in cancer but no evidence supports its direct use as a drug target or receptor at present[1][2][3][5].
