Coiled-coil domain-containing protein 121 (CCDC121) is a mammalian protein encoded by the CCDC121 gene on chromosome 2q23.3. It is expressed mainly in the testes, ovaries, prostate, and thyroid[1][3]. CCDC121 features multiple isoforms produced by alternative splicing and contains a predicted domain of unknown function (DUF4515/pfam14988)[1][3]. The protein is predominantly composed of alpha-helices due to its coiled-coil motifs and is partially localized in the nucleus and cytosol[1]. While its exact physiological and molecular function is unknown, it is part of the large CCDC protein family implicated broadly in cellular structure, ciliary function, gametogenesis, embryonic development, and tumorigenesis, but no specific roles or associated phenotypes have been established for this family member[1][3][5]. No known drugs specifically interact with CCDC121, and it is not regarded as a therapeutic target or biomarker at present[1][3][5].
