Overview

Coiled-coil domain-containing protein 154 (CCDC154) is a protein encoded by the CCDC154 gene, predicted to play a role in bone mineralization and maturation, bone resorption, odontogenesis, and sensory perception of sound[1][8]. The protein features a coiled-coil structural motif and is implicated in the suppression of cell proliferation by inducing G2/M cell cycle arrest[5][6]. CCDC154 interacts with proteins involved in the cell cycle, such as minichromosome maintenance complex component 2 (MCM2), and has been implicated in the promotion of colorectal cancer proliferation and metastasis[2]. High expression of CCDC154 has been shown to correlate with poorer survival in colorectal cancer and changes in immune cell infiltration, indicating its role as a potential prognostic biomarker in oncology[2]. It has also been associated with rare genetic disorders like osteopetrosis and mucolipidosis III gamma[1][8][5][6]. No approved drugs are known to directly target this protein, and it is not currently considered a classic therapeutic target (e.g., receptor, enzyme, transporter)[1][3][6].
