Overview

Coiled-coil domain-containing protein 166 (CCDC166) is a protein encoded by the human CCDC166 gene. It belongs to the "coiled-coil domain-containing" family, which comprises a large and diverse group of proteins implicated in various cellular processes, mainly through protein-protein interactions facilitated by their coiled-coil structure. Despite its identification, there is extremely limited published data on the molecular function, biological role, disease associations, or therapeutic targeting of CCDC166 specifically[1][2]. Unlike well-studied family members such as CCDC3 or CCDC88A, CCDC166 does not appear in clinical, functional, or drug-targeting contexts in current databases and literature. There is no evidence that it acts as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other classical therapeutic target, nor is there evidence of it being linked to any disease mechanisms, clinical biomarkers, or interacting drugs. Given the absence of substantial information and lack of evidence for therapeutic relevance or well-documented biochemical function, CCDC166 should currently be considered a largely uncharacterized protein, not recognized as a therapeutic target or disease-associated entity.
