Target intelligence / Profile preview
Coiled-coil domain-containing protein 171 (CCDC171) is a human protein encoded by the CCDC171 gene (also described as myosin tail domain containing protein based on sequence features). CCDC171 is a member of the coiled-coil domain-containing protein family, a broad group of proteins defined by the presence of a coiled-coil structural motif, which is frequently involved in protein-protein interactions. CCDC171 itself is annotated as a protein-coding gene; its biological function is not well characterized. Some gene ontology annotations suggest possible DNA-binding transcription factor activity, but this is not experimentally validated. There is minimal evidence for significant biological functions, disease roles, or therapeutic targeting; CCDC171 is not classified as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or drug target. Some cancer fusion events involving CCDC171 (such as CCDC171-CNTLN) have been observed, but their biological impact remains poorly defined, and CCDC171 is not implicated as a driver gene in human pathology. As of now, CCDC171 should be considered a poorly characterized structural protein with limited annotation for molecular, biological, or clinical functions[1][3][4][5][9][10].
None known. No drugs targeting CCDC171 have described mechanisms of action
