Target intelligence / Profile preview
Coiled-coil domain-containing protein 190 (CCDC190, also known as C1orf110 or MGC48998) is a protein-coding gene widely expressed in human tissues such as lung, brain, heart, and organs of the respiratory, digestive, and reproductive systems. The protein consists of approximately 302 amino acids and contains a prominent coiled-coil domain (positions 14 to 72), which is thought to act as a molecular spacer or be involved in higher-order protein complex formation. The gene undergoes alternative splicing, resulting in multiple mRNA and protein isoforms. CCDC190 is predicted to localize to the nucleus, mitochondria, cytoplasm, and endoplasmic reticulum, and it may play structural roles in chromatin organization and chromosome dynamics. While it is not currently recognized as a classical therapeutic target such as a receptor, enzyme, or transporter, changes in its expression have been associated with risk for cannabis dependence, various cancers, and specific cellular and developmental processes. CCDC190 protein interacts with several nuclear and regulatory proteins, including nucleophosmin (NPM1), and amyloid precursor protein (APP). However, there are no approved drugs targeting this protein, and its precise role in disease mechanisms is still being elucidated.
