Overview

Coiled-coil domain-containing protein 191 (CCDC191) is a protein encoded by the CCDC191 gene. Predicted to have binding activity with phosphatases and potentially associated with centrosomal contractile fiber structures, its precise biological function remains largely uncharacterized[1][6]. Bioinformatics and computational studies suggest it is a context-dependent regulator in cancer, possibly acting as a “double agent” with both oncogenic and tumor-suppressor roles depending on tumor type and signaling context, such as the PI3K pathway in breast cancer[2]. High expression of CCDC191 is associated with improved prognosis in bladder urothelial carcinoma patients, indicating a possible prognostic biomarker role[2]. No known drugs target CCDC191 directly, and it is not regarded as a validated therapeutic target as of current knowledge[1][2][6].
