Coiled-coil domain-containing protein 59 (CCDC59)

Coiled-coil domain-containing protein 59 (CCDC59) is a protein-coding gene product localized mainly in the nucleoplasm[6]. It enables RNA binding and participates as a component of transcription complexes involved in the regulation of pulmonary surfactant-associated proteins SFTPB and SFTPC, where it enhances homeobox protein Nkx-2.1-activated promoter activities[7][2]. Diseases associated with CCDC59 include intracystic papillary adenoma and tinea favosa[2]. It is not established as a therapeutic target (receptor, enzyme, transporter, etc.), nor are there known drugs or biomarker uses for patient selection or safety concerns linked to CCDC59.
