Target intelligence / Profile preview
Coiled-coil domain-containing protein 63 (CCDC63) is a structural protein involved in the formation and function of sperm flagella, and plays a significant role in spermiogenesis, including elongation of flagella and the formation of sperm heads. It is predicted to be active in the axoneme, the structural core of cilia and flagella. Genetic variants in CCDC63 have been implicated in several conditions, including primary ciliary dyskinesia, reticular dysgenesis, and metabolic syndromes, with additional genome-wide association data suggesting possible roles in metabolic regulation, alcohol consumption behavior, and reproductive development. Despite these genetic associations, there is no evidence in current sources that CCDC63 is a direct therapeutic target or that any drugs interact with it[2][3][4][7][8][9][11].
