Overview

Coiled-coil domain-containing protein 71 (CCDC71) is a protein encoded by the human CCDC71 gene. It is characterized by the presence of coiled-coil domains and is enriched at the nuclear periphery of certain cell types, forming nuclear foci. Bioinformatics and machine learning analysis indicate that CCDC71 is differentially expressed in immune-related conditions such as antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) and repeated implantation failure (RIF), suggesting a role in immune and reproductive biology. It functions in processes including neural precursor cell proliferation, neuron migration, and cell maturation. CCDC71 has been proposed as a candidate diagnostic biomarker and potential therapeutic target for conditions involving APS and RIF, especially those impacting female fertility and pregnancy outcomes. Candidate drugs acetaminophen and fasudil were predicted as possible modulators through network analysis, but direct experimental evidence of drug-target interaction is lacking. No clinically relevant safety concerns or approved targeting strategies have been described.
