Coiled-coil domain-containing protein 71L (CCDC71L) is a protein encoded by the CCDC71L gene in humans. It is characterized by a coiled-coil structural motif but does not belong to a major drug target class such as receptors or enzymes. CCDC71L plays a functional role in processes such as cellular lipid metabolism, cell proliferation, migration, and apoptosis inhibition. Recent genetic studies link it to both cancer progression (e.g., triple-negative breast cancer and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma) and cardiovascular traits (e.g., megakaryopoiesis, platelet production, and atherosclerotic plaque formation). It has been identified as a biomarker of poor prognosis in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma and may be related to immune infiltration and genome heterogeneity in tumors, suggesting potential as a prognostic biomarker and a research target for immunotherapy or cancer biology. However, no approved therapeutics currently target CCDC71L directly.
