Overview

Coiled-coil domain-containing protein 83 (CCDC83) is a member of the coiled-coil domain–containing protein family, which are characterized by a structural motif that promotes oligomerization and protein–protein interactions. The CCDC83 gene encodes a protein for which detailed molecular and biological functions remain largely unknown; there is currently no evidence of it serving as a receptor, enzyme, or major therapeutic target. Diseases associated with CCDC83 include specific types of atrial septal defect, suggesting a potential role in heart development or structure, but mechanistic links are not established. There are no reported drugs or clinical biomarkers targeting CCDC83, and its safety and therapeutic relevance have not been described in the literature[4]. If you need more targeted or detailed information—for example, on gene structure, evolutionary conservation, or protein domains—please specify, since the available literature on CCDC83 is limited and it does not appear in major target databases as a therapeutic molecule.
