Overview

Coiled-coil domain-containing protein 9B (CCDC9B) is a protein encoded by the CCDC9B gene (HGNC: 33488, located at chromosome 15q15.1), also known as C15orf52 or FLJ43339[5][7]. This protein contains a coiled-coil domain, often linked with protein-protein interactions. Although its precise biochemical functions remain poorly characterized, evidence suggests CCDC9B participates in protein and RNA remodeling complexes and can bind RNA[1][5][7]. Research indicates that the methylation status of its mRNA, regulated by the RNA methyltransferase NSUN7, influences stability and expression of CCDC9B in liver cells, with downstream effects on associated proteins such as IVNS1ABP and possibly MYC regulatory pathways[1]. No data currently indicate that CCDC9B is a typical therapeutic target (such as a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or transcription factor), nor is there evidence for small-molecule drugs or biologics directly targeting this protein. Disease linkage is limited, but altered methylation patterns of its transcript have been implicated in liver cancer models[1]. The established roles for CCDC9B are primarily in cellular homeostasis and post-transcriptional RNA processing; its clinical and functional significance remain subjects for further research.
