Overview

Coiled-coil-helix-coiled-coil-helix domain containing 2 pseudogene 11 (CHCHD2P11) is a human processed pseudogene located on chromosome 19 and is a retrocopy of the parental gene CHCHD2. Processed pseudogenes are DNA segments that resemble known genes but are generally nonfunctional, lacking coding capacity due to disabling mutations, and arising via reverse transcription and genome integration of mRNA from parent genes[4][7]. Like other pseudogenes, CHCHD2P11 does not encode a functional protein and is not considered a receptor, enzyme, transporter, or other therapeutic target. The biological relevance of CHCHD2P11 is currently unknown, and it is not used as a biomarker or associated with safety risks. In general, some pseudogenes act through noncoding RNA-related mechanisms (for example, acting as microRNA decoys or regulating parental gene expression), but no specific functional or clinical roles are established for CHCHD2P11[2][3][4]. The entry can be considered incorrect as a "target" in traditional therapeutic terms, since it is not an active molecule or drug target.

Biological functions

May participate in noncoding RNA regulatory functions typical of pseudogenes, such as microRNA decoy, RNA interference, or competitive endogenous RNA mechanisms[2][4]No specific functions are documented for CHCHD2P11

Disease associations

No direct disease roles assignedPseudogenes can modulate gene expression and have been implicated generally in cancer, but no evidence for CHCHD2P11 specifically[2]
