Collagen-induced platelet aggregation refers to the process by which platelets adhere to and are activated by collagen, a key component of the subendothelial matrix exposed during vascular injury. This interaction is central to hemostasis and thrombosis, as it initiates a cascade of events leading to platelet activation, shape change, secretion of granule contents, and ultimately platelet-platelet aggregation. Key receptors involved include GPVI and integrin α2β1 (GPIa/IIa).
