Target intelligence / Profile preview
CS3 is a fimbrial colonization factor antigen (CFA) expressed by certain strains of enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC). It mediates bacterial adhesion to intestinal cells, facilitating colonization and contributing to diarrheal disease. CS3 consists of thin, flexible fimbriae and is immunogenic, eliciting an antibody response during infection. It is a target for diagnostics and vaccine development against ETEC.
