Overview

COMMD5 pseudogene 1 (COMMD5P1) is a non-coding genetic element classified as a pseudogene of the COMMD5 gene, which belongs to the COMM domain-containing protein family. Unlike its parent gene COMMD5, which is involved in epithelial cell phenotype regulation and has both tumor suppressor and oncogenic roles in some human cancers[2][3], COMMD5P1 is not transcribed into a functional protein and does not participate directly in known biological pathways or disease mechanisms. As a pseudogene, COMMD5P1 is not considered a therapeutic target, biomarker, or druggable receptor/enzyme, nor does it provide structure or function relevant to pharmacological intervention. No drugs, therapeutic mechanisms, or disease roles have been described for COMMD5P1; information on cellular function, disease relevance, and molecular interaction pertains to functional *COMMD5* or other COMMD family members, not the pseudogene[1][2][3].
