Complement Activation Pathway Modulation

Modulating one or more steps within the classical/lectin/alternative pathways that activate the innate immune system’s complement cascade. The complement system consists of a series of plasma proteins that, when activated, enhance the ability of antibodies and phagocytic cells to clear pathogens and damaged cells. It also promotes inflammation and attacks the pathogen's cell membrane. Modulation can occur through targeting specific components or convertases with inhibitors, or through interventions affecting regulatory proteins.
