Overview

Complement component 1, q subcomponent binding protein pseudogene 1 (C1QBPP1) is a processed pseudogene present in the human genome[1][4]. Pseudogenes are DNA sequences that resemble known genes but have lost their protein-coding potential due to mutations, deletions, or loss of regulatory elements[2]. Most pseudogenes do not code for functional proteins; however, some may regulate the expression of their parental genes at the RNA level, although this has not been documented specifically for C1QBPP1[2]. Unlike its parent gene C1QBP, which codes for a multifunctional protein involved in mitochondrial function and immune regulation, C1QBPP1 does not act as a receptor or have direct biological activity[3][5].
